US President elect Donald Trump has clarified that he won’t take his $400,000 salary as America’s president. Trump confirmed to the American citizens in 2015, saying he has more than enough money for him and generations to come.
At an event in Rochester, New Hampshire, in September 2015, Trump announced: “The first thing I’m going to do is tell you that if I’m elected president, I’m accepting no salary, okay? That’s not a big deal for me.”
Following his election as the 45th president of America, Trump was challenged by social media people to clarify whether he would take home his salary. The president said:
“As far as the salary is concerned — I won’t take even one dollar. I am totally giving up my salary if I become president.”
Trump is among three America’s presidents to reject pay while in office. Herbert Hoover and John F. Kennedy are other presidents who earned nothing from serving their country at White House.
Trump’s wealth is estimated at $10 billion, which ranks him among the wealthiest individuals in the world. The salary is so meager that the billionaire sees no point of scoping it from the government coffer.
