Eastlands is found in eastern parts of Nairobi city. The region has over 15 estates with almost three quarter of the population in Nairobi. Many people whose income is below Ksh 150,000 live in Eastlands Nairobi because most estates are cheap and close to the central business district.
Contrary to the believe that insecurity and poor living condition is the order of the day in Eastlands, there is total security and high happiness index, a surprise to many Nairobians.Very few estates like Kariobangi and Dandora experience some degree of insecurity but many estates are good to live in.
If you live in Nairobi or you are new in the city and you are looking for a cheap single room,a bedsitter, one bedroom house or two bedroom house, these are the estates to look for the house.
1. Pipeline/Embakasi/Transami
Pipeline, Embakasi and Transami are among the most populous estates in eastlands. It’s the best choice for many people who earn less than Ksh50, 000 per month because the houses here are cheap.

The rent for a bedsitter is between Ksh5, 000-Ksh8, 500
The rent for a one bedroom house is between Ksh 8,000-Ksh13, 500

2. Tassia/Nyayo Estates
Tassia and Nyayo estates are also found in Eastlands.

One bedroom is between Ksh Ksh 11,000-Ksh 15,000

3. Donholm/Umoja/Greenspan/Savannah
I will encourage anyone intending to live in Eastlands to look for a house here.These three estates are cheap and close to Nairobi town.

Bedsitter is between Ksh6,000-Ksh8,500
One bedroom is between Ksh 8,500-Ksh 13,000
Two bedroom is between Ksh 15,000-Ksh 19,000
4. Buruburu
Here you can either choose to live in the main house or extensions.However, main houses do not contain single rooms or bedsitters.
Monthly rent for a single room in Buruburu is between Ksh 6,000-Ksh 7,500
A bedsitter is between Ksh 7,500-Ksh 10,000
One bedroom is between Ksh 11,000-Ksh 18,000
Two bedrooms is between Ksh 17,000-Ksh25, 000
Three bedroom is between Ksh 25,000-Ksh45, 000
5. Kayole/Komarock
The two estates are close to each other.
