Rwanda is among the emerging economies in Africa. With increasing level of education, there are jobs that pay better than others. Here are the highest paying careers in Rwanda
Medicine
A degree in medicine can land you a well paying job in Rwanda. Doctors lead in terms of pay, job security and terms of employment. But for you to become a doctor, you have to spend at least 5 years in college as a student of medicine and surgery
IT/Computer Science
It is a course that is well paying especially if you secure employment in the private sector. Besides, IT and Computer science, Software engineer is another IT related degree course that’s well paying.
If you are intending to study a lucrative course at the university, then pursue a degree in IT.
Bachelor of Commerce/Accountants
Business related courses are also among the highest paying careers in Rwanda. Here in Rwanda, Accountants are a happy lot; they not only earn good perks, but also enjoy what they do.
If you are lucky to pursue business related course and professional certification like ACCA, CFA or ACCA, there are high chances you will get a job with an international financial institution with good compensation.
Lawyers
Though lawyers are few, these people make a lot of money per month. Latest statistics show that on average a lawyer in Rwanda makes US$700 per month-you can convert that to Rwandese currency.
Monitoring and Evaluation/Statistics
Statistics is a rare career in Rwanda but one of the highest paying professions in the country. Most statisticians work for NGOs and government institutions where data analysis, surveys and monitoring and evaluation is done.
Though the career is well paying, you must be good in mathematics for you to complete a degree in statistics.
Auditors
Auditors, especially those working for international audit and accounting firms also rank among the highest paid professionals in Rwanda. Auditors are drawn from a pool of business graduates who have pursued professional accounting courses like CPA, CIA or ACCA
Electrical/Civil Engineers
Individuals who pursue courses in civil/electrical engineering smile all the way to the bank. Since Rwanda is growing, there is a lot of construction going on in Kigali. Civil and electrical engineers are always deployed to the site to perform critical functions.
The government also employs engineers in numbers.
Journalism and Mass Communication
Journalism could not miss in this list. The course is extremely rewarding especially if you have a good command of the English language.
Besides being a journalist, you can work for NGOs and government institution as the communication manager.
Human Resources Manager
Since Human Resources Managers are in charge of the workforce at any organization, their salaries are more than 80 % of employees in those organization.Usually,the HR manager comes third in any organization, after the CEO and Chief Finance Officer
Chief Executive Officer
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the head of an organization. There is no other person that earns more than a CEO in Rwanda, except the President of Rwanda.
