You can actually cut down on those snacking expenses and save that cash for other important things. This is all you need to prepare vanilla cake at the comfort of your home, that will serve you for the whole week or better serve ten people;
2 cups of baking flour
½ cup of margarine or butter
1⅓ cups of sugar
½ teaspoonful of salt
3 teaspoonful of baking powder
1 cup of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees –the cake will heat for 35 minutes
Put all the dry ingredients in the mixer (kitchen electric mixer or a large bowl in case you do not have an electric mixer)
Mix at medium low speed
Drop in the margarine portions one by one and mix in till the dough is creamy
Add in the vanilla powder as you continue mixing
Pour in the cup of milk in a steady slow stream and mix slowly for 1 minute. Scrap the sides of the mixer to ensure that all the ingredients mix well.
Drop in the eggs one at a time the mix a little bit to make the dough fluffy. Do the mixing for 30 seconds the dough will be ready.
Now the dough is ready, flip over your cake pan and use a foil to cover it. Cut around the foil to form the shape of the pan. You shall place this foil at the base of the pan so as to prevent the cake from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Use some margarine or food spray to grease the bottom of the pan before placing the foil.
Now scoop the dough into the prepared pan or pans if you have to use two pans. Place it in the oven for 30-35 minutes. Insert a tooth pick to check if the cake is cooked through the middle. Make sure that it is golden brown in colour. You can also touch the top of the cake with your finger and if the cake springs back it is a good indication that the cake is cooked well. Go round the cake with a knife to loosen it up in order to remove it from the pan. Grab the cake and flip it over. Shake it a little bit and remove the pan and the foil. Put the cake on a cooling rack or table for half an hour before any other process for example filling or decoration .The cake is ready for snacking at this point even without the decoration or any filling!
