The best thing that could happen to any human being is to realize that the only person who makes you happy is the girl or boy that you adopted. We all agree that without children, our lives could be more boring than we thought.
A number of us could wish to have someone to call our own, be it a kid or a partner. But when you realize that you have a partner but lucks a child due to infertility, you decide to adopt one. This process is very hectic because of the laws associated with adoption. Once you find a person willing to surrender her child to you, it’s a big blessing.
The moment the kid arrives at your home, you realize she is obedient and always willing to cooperate and respect you as a mother, but when the surrounding start telling her the truth about her existence in the village, that’s the moment the world starts breaking loose. A question arises, what exactly are you expected to do so that your child could respect you as a mother. Below is a list of what you are expected to do.
- Never use abusive language on your child
The worst mistake you can make as parent is to use unfriendly language on your child. Remember there is a reason why you adopted the child. In order to maintain a good relationship with her, ensure you always use friendly language however how much you are agitated by her behaviour.
- Love her the way you love your other kids
Maybe you adopted the kid and all of a sudden you realize she is not behaving exactly the way your other kids are behaving. Discriminating against your adopted kid will provide ground for her to disrespect you. Treat all your kids equally regardless of whether she is your own blood or not.
- Buy her gifts
There are two people on this Planet who love gifts like heaven; kids and women. If you develop a habit of buying your adopted kid gifts like clothes, toys, biscuits and sweets, you will develop a bond that no one would break.
- Show her that she’s the best thing that ever happened on this earth
There are many ways of showing your kid that no one matters more than her. Every time she is around, treat her with love, the same way you treat your real children. This will make your child know that you are the only person in her life.
Also, ensure that you always defend her whenever she is offended by the community.
- Provide all the basic necessities
As a responsible parent, make sure you provide food clothes and shelter for the child; those are the most important things a child wants.
- Behave responsibly
No child would want to see a drunk parent when she is expecting food and someone to advise her. Try as much as possible, even is your drink, to be sober when the child wants you.
