Importance of Using ejiji pay in Nairobi

ejiji pay cashless payment system technology  is used by Nairobi City County in revenue collection to enhance service delivery.

Motorists are allowed to make payment online through ejiji pay as they seek services of the county. This system has been praised because it makes it easier for the motorists settle parking fees to avoid harassment from city council askaris.

Motorists will be required to first  register using various methods which include County’s Android app (Nairobi City County Mobile) or use of USSD code, *217#, or use of their website www.epayments.nairobi.go.ke. Once you create the account, you will also be able to access your account in all of the three methods.

Creating the e-wallet using your mobile phone:

Dial *217#, this prompts you to open an account for future use: enter your Names, National ID/Passport No, Year of Birth and a PIN number. You will receive a message confirming that your account has been successfully created.

You can use your eJijipay to pay for daily parking, seasonal parking, and parking for Matatu Saccos, penalties and to check the status of your payment.

To load this account with money, go to M-pesa business number 147147, use your phone number as the account number. If you encounter any problem, the county has also provided a phone number 0709920000 where you can call for customer support.

If you use the USSD code, you will be charged by the phone service providers (Sh5 for Safaricom and Sh3 for Airtel) to use the service, unlike when using the website or the app which are free to transact. Top ups of the account can be made through banks, mobile money accounts like Airtel money and through County agents. The packing fees in Nairobi is KSh 300/= per day.
