John Gachora
GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR (EXECUTIVE)
Mr. Gachora holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA as well as an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA, He joined NIC from Barclays Africa where he had been Managing Director and Head of Corporate & Investment Banking. Prior to this this he held several executive positions at Absa Bank, in South Africa, as well as Bank of America and Credit Suisse First Boston in the United States. He joined NIC Bank in September 2013 as Group Managing Director and was appointed to the Board on 21 August 2013.
Alan J Dodd
Executive Director
Mr. Dodd has a BA(Hons) in Economics from Portsmouth Univerity,UK. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He has extensive regional and international banking experience, covering East and Southern Africa, Middle East and the Far East. He joined NIC Bank in January 2006 as Head of Corporate Banking, and was appointed to the NIC Board on 22nd February 2006.
Livingstone Murage
Group Company Secretary
Mr. Murage holds a B. Comm (Hons) degree from University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Public Secretary. He is also a member of ICPAK and ICPSK. He previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Mobil Oil before joining the banking sector in 1986. He was appointed Company Secretary on 2 September 1999.
Ellie Chiuri
Director Corporate Banking
Mr. Chiuri holds an MBA in International Business from Liverpool University. Ellie joined NIC Bank in 2004, as an Analyst within the Corporate Banking Division, and has, over the years grown through the ranks and taken on increasing responsibilities within the division. In 2014 he was appointed as the Head of Corporate Banking. He was appointed Director, Corporate Banking in January, 2016.
Monicah W. Kihia
Director, Human Resources
Prior to joining NIC Bank, Mrs. Kihia held various roles with Citi with the latest being Head of Learning & Development – Sub Sahara Africa cluster and Deputy E.A HR Head & Senior HR Business Partner – Kenya. Monicah holds an MBA (Marketing & Strategic Management) from the University of Nairobi, and Bachelor of Education (Mathematics & Economics) from Egerton University. She is also Certified Executive Coach by the Academy of Executive Coaching.
Catherine Karita
GENERAL MANAGER, NIC SECURITIES
Ms. Karita holds a BSc. Degree in Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and an MBA from the University of Baltimore. Prior to joining NIC Bank Catherine worked at CfC Stanbic Financial Services Limited as the Head of Corporate and Institutional Sales, where she established the Local and Foreign Institutional business. Her banking career started off at Bank of America, in the US where she worked for 4 years in Relationship Management and various Sales positions. She joined NIC Bank as General Manager of NIC Securities on January 2nd 2013.
Robert Kibaara
Director, Retail Banking
Mr. Kibaara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Banking, from University of Sunderland (UK) and Professional Post- Graduate Diploma in Marketing from Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He is also pursuing a Masters of Business Administration degree, at Edinburgh Business School (Heriot Watt University – UK). Robert brings on board 21 years of extensive experience in Banking. Prior to joining NIC Bank Robert has held various senior management positions with Barclays Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and National Bank of Kenya.
David Abwoga
DIRECTOR, FINANCE & STRATEGY
Mr. Abwoga holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Moi University and an MBA (Strategic Management) from the University of Nairobi. He joined NIC Bank from Citibank N.A where he was the East Africa Cluster Chief Financial Officer (CFO), responsible for Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Prior to this, he held various executive management positions at Citi, Marshalls (EA) Ltd and Deloitte & Touché. David is a Certified Public Accountant, CPA (K) and CPS (K) with 22 years of extensive experience in Audit, Operations and Finance.
Rosalind Kimani-Gichuru
DIRECTOR, MARKETING, COMMUNICATION & CITIZENSHIP
Rosalind has over 17 years of Marketing experience having worked for The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola SABCO in various leadership roles across 39 countries in Sub Saharan Africa. Prior to that, she worked for The Gillette Company in Boston, Massachusetts where she held various Brand Management roles in the Duracell and Oral-B/Braun Business Units overseeing the US market. Rosalind has an MBA from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Before joining NIC Group she was The Coca-Cola East, Central and West Africa Business Unit Strategic Marketing Manager, responsible for the Coca-Cola TM.
Julius Kamau
Director, Technology & Operations
Julius Kamau brings on board 15 years of extensive experience in managing Banking, IT Operations and Projects. Prior to his appointment Julius has held various positions in Citi Bank, Standard Chartered Bank with the latest being Head of Operations & Technology – Ecobank – Kenya. Julius holds a degree in Bachelor of Commerce, Marketing from the University of Nairobi and is also a Certified Public Accountant, CPA (K).
Sankul Mandavia
DIRECTOR, TREASURY
Mr. Mandavia holds a BSc. Business Administration from United States International University (USIU). Before his appointment he was the Assistant General Manager Institutional Banking and Liability Management at Commercial Bank of Africa. He also served as Head of Treasury at First American Bank of Kenya.
Margaret Kimuma
DIRECTOR, CREDIT RISK
Ms. Margaret Kimuma is the Director of Credit Risk at NIC Bank. Prior to her appointment, she was the Head of Credit Risk. She has 20 years of experience in banking having also worked for Barclays Bank (K) Limited. She holds a BSc. International Business Administration from United States International University (USIU), Diploma in Customer Relationship Management – Institute of Financial Services (UK) and is an Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers.
VIOLET WASUNNA
HEAD OF INSTITUTIONAL BANKING
Mrs. Violet Wasunna holds a BSc degree from College of New Rochelle in New York. She later worked at Commercial Bank of Africa for 18 years where she rose through the ranks to Assistant General Manager-Corporate Banking. She joined NIC Bank as Head of Institutional Banking on 3rd August 2003.
Maurice Opiyo
MANAGING DIRECTOR, NIC CAPITAL
Maurice joined NIC Group in 2009 as a Senior Associate from Old Mutual where he was a Senior Investment Analyst. Maurice successfully built his career at NIC Capital rising to the position of Associate Director before his appointment to Managing Director, NIC Capital. Maurice holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Finance Option) and is a CFA level 3 Candidate.
