Based on latest survey, these are the richest people in Tanzania.
- Mohammed Dewji
Mohammed Dewji is the wealthiest person in Tanzania with estimated net wealth of $1.3 billion.
Dewji was born on the 08th of May, 1975 in Ipembe ward, Singida. He is the second child of Mr and Mrs Gulam Dewji and has five other siblings.
Mohammed inherited his father’s Mohammed Enterprises Tanzania Limited (METL) and accelerated the growth of the company by diversifying the business and coming up with expansion strategies.
The business mogul owns several real estate apartments, textile industries and agriculture ventures. His companies contribute about 2 % of Tanzania’s GDP.
Mohammed creates over 200 jobs annually and has a total of 20,000 employees.
Rostam Azizi
Rostam Azizi owns part of Dar es Salaam port and Vodacom Tanzania.His net worth is estimated to be upwards of $1 billion.
Apart from the companies listed above, the businessman has interests in mining of gold, diamond,copper and iron ore.He owns Caspian mining, one of the largest mining companies in Tanzania.The company provides mining services to giants like BHP Billiton and Barrick Gold.
Mr Azizi also owns several real estate properties in Oman, Tanzania and Dubai.He has also invested heavily in transport business.
Said Salim Bakhresa
Said Salim knows how to spot business opportunities. The millionaire is not only smart businesswise but also very innovative.
Said owns Azam TV,one of the most popular pay TV in Uganda.The school dropout is also the owner of Bakhresa Group,which directly deals with transport, real estate and among other businesses.
The business mogul also has interests in ferry services, oil and petroleum business and marketing services.
Said Salim is estimated to be worth $570 million.
Reginald Mengi
Reginald Mengi is the 4th wealthiest person in Tanzania with accumulated asset amounting to $560 million.
He is the proud owner of IPP Media Group which comprises of newspapers, radio stations, TV stations and internet properties.
Mengi is also involved in real estate business.
