Lyceum offers part time teaching courses for teachers and students who would like to advance their studies
Lyceum has always been actively involved in looking at the needs of educators. With this said, we plan to be even more committed to meeting the needs of our teachers and support the growing urgency and importance of teacher training in South Africa. It is our longstanding belief that lecturer, teacher and trainer development is a matter of national priority as it affects the learning outcomes of the student.
In a recent national newspaper article, the urgency for upgrading the quality of teachers within the South African educational landscape was highlighted as crucial for student development, particularly in early childhood. By supporting these views, Lyceum College has planned the implementation of an entry programme in Early Childhood Development, a Diploma in Grade R Teaching and ultimately a Bachelor’s Degree in Foundational Education Phase Teaching i.e. (B.Ed. Foundation Phase).
The implementation of the degree will be dependent on the approval and accreditation of the DHE&T/ CHE/HEQC. The Diploma in Grade R Teaching has subsequently been accredited with SAQA (ID 91954).
