Veteran Citizen TV journalism, Waweru Mburu was buried at Muranga on October 07, 2016 after succumbing to gastric cancer.

He was the longest Serving Worker at Citizen Radio

Waweru Mburu joined Radio Citizen 17 years ago when the station was broadcasting in Kikuyu language. He rose through the ranks to become the head of Radio Citizen.

He never took sick leave while he was working at Citizen Radio

Waweru took a single sick leave, when he was diagnosed with gastric cancer. The deep voiced presenter rarely fell sick, which is a rare incident.

He dropped Education for journalism

In 1995 Waweru Mburu was admitted at the University of Nairobi to study a degree in education but later changed to journalism and mass communication.

Mburu believed education and teaching career was not his passion.

He was a family man

Waweru Mburu was blessed with a wife and children.
