Dominic Kiarie –Group CEO
Director of UAP Holdings Limited. He joined the Group on 1st August 2011 having worked with the British-American Group for 7 years as the founding Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of British-American Asset Managers.
Prior to that, he worked in the Investment Banking and Investment Management fields in United Kingdom, South Africa and Kenya, and has served in Executive Directorship roles in the Financial Services Sector for over 8 years.
Mr. Kiarie holds a Masters of Philosophy (M. Phil) Degree in Finance from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science from The
Sir John Cass Business School, City University, London, a Diploma in Actuarial Techniques and a Certificate in Finance and Investments both from the Institute of Actuaries, London. He has also attended numerous courses locally and abroad on leadership, strategy, corporate finance and investments, amongst others.
Jackson Theuri-Group Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Theuri joined UAPHL as the Group Chief Finance Officer in January 2012. Prior to joining UAP, he was a Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He has held successive senior positions with PwC both in Kenya and the United Kingdom over the last 11 years, providing Assurance and Business Advisory Services to companies in various industries with a special focus on the Insurance and Investment Management industries. Mr. Theuri holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Kenyatta University and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K).
He is a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and has attended numerous courses locally and abroad on leadership, strategy, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and Audit methodology, UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulatory audits, amongst others.
Nkirote Mworia Njiru-Group Company Secretary
Nkirote is a certified public secretary and lawyer with a passion for corporate governance, standard setting and policy making. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, an active member of the Law Society of Kenya and a fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya where she is an elected member of the Council and is currently serving as the Vice Chairman of the Institute.
Nkirote holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Reading (United Kingdom), a Master of Laws in Commercial Law from the University of Cape Town (Republic of South Africa), a Global Executive Masters in Business Administration jointly offered by United States International University (Kenya) and Columbia Business School (New York, USA), a Higher National Diploma in Law (Kenya) and a Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management (Kenya).
Nkirote has worked in various sectors in Kenya including telecommunications, retirement benefits and insurance in a wide-range of activities involving legal and regulatory risk analysis, legislative drafting, monitoring developments in legal research, setting up legal and governance structures, and legal policy development. She has also practiced law.
Gerishon Mwangi-Group Internal Audit Manager
Mr. Mwangi joined the Company in July 2006. Prior to joining the UAP Group he had served as an Internal Auditor in two commercial banks and an insurance company in Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) Degree from the University of Nairobi, a Certified Public Accountant qualification (KASNEB), a Certified Public Secretary qualification (KASNEB), a Certified Information Systems Auditor qualification (ISACA – US), a Certified Fraud Examiner qualification (ACFE – US) and is currently in the final stages of qualifying for a Diploma in Risk Management from the Institute of Risk Management (IRM – UK).
Mr. Mwangi is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Information Systems Audit & Control Association (US), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (US) and the Institute of Risk Management (UK). He has a wealth of experience in theory and practice of Internal Audit, Risk management and management of Quality Management Systems gained over the last 12 years.
Thomas Kong’ong’o-Group Chief Information Officer
Mr. Kong’ong’o joined UAPHL as the Group Chief Information Officer in September 2013. Prior to joining UAP, he was a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He has held successive senior positions with PwC Kenya where he worked for over 6 years providing Information Technology Advisory Services to companies in various industries with a special focus on the Financial Services industry. Mr. Kong’ong’o holds an MBA and MSc in Information Systems from University of Nairobi.
Sophia Mwonia-Group Properties Manager
Ms. Muoni joined UAPHL as the Group Property Manager in May 2013. Prior to joining UAP she worked with Gordon Court Ltd a subsidiary of the Apollo Group as a property manager for 4 years and was in charge of the management of residential and commercial properties of the Group. She has also worked with NW Realite Ltd as Head of Department – Agency Department and previously as senior property manager at Gimco Ltd. She has held successive senior positions in property management over the last 10 years.
Ms. Muoni holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Land Economics from the University of Nairobi. She holds a Diploma in Valuation and Estate Management from the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya and is a Full Member of the Institution.
Simon Muigai-Group Facilities Manager
Mr. Muigai joined UAPHL in Aug 2013 as the Group Facilities Manager. Prior to joining UAP, he worked with Cadbury (K) Ltd – a subsidiary of the Mondelez’ International – as the Engineering and Projects Manager. He has over 8 years’ experience in Real Estate and Manufacturing industries in Eastern Africa Region and South Africa, with specific focus on services engineering, projects management and energy management in office buildings, warehouses, residential buildings, factories and other company properties and assets.
Mr. Muigai holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (Project Management) from Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and MBA (Strategic Management) from the University of Nairobi. He is a Member of Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK). He is an International Certified Energy Manager by The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) of USA and a Certified EHS Professional.
Catherine Obwino-Group Marketing Manager
Catherine Obwino is a marketing professional with over 15 years of relevant local/regional Sales and Marketing exposure gained in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Energy and Financial Services Sectors. She previously worked in various capacities at British American Tobacco Kenya and Caltex Oil Kenya (Chevron Kenya Ltd); and more recently held the position of Marketing Manager at KCB.
Catherine graduated with a distinction in both her graduate and undergraduate programs, and holds an MBA in Strategic Management from California State University Hayward and a BSc. in International Business Administration from United States International University – Africa (USIU-A). Additionally, she has a Marketers Practitioners Certificate from the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK).
Winnie Peritet-Group Human Resource Manager
Ms Pertet joined UAPHL in January 2014. Prior to joining she was the Country Human Resources Manager at Coca Cola Sabco, Kenya for a period of two years. She also held several senior HR positions at East African Breweries Limited. Winnie has a wide HR experience in the Banking Sector where she worked for various banks. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Kenyatta University and an MBA (HRM) from the same University. She is also a certified Executive Coach from the Academy Of Executive Coaches – UK. She has attended several HR related and Leadership courses both locally and internationally. Winnie is a member of the Institute of Executive Coaches – East Africa.
Eric Kisaka-Group Risk and Compliance Manager
Mr. Kisaka joined UAPHL in July 2012. Prior to joining the Company, he was a Manager within the PwC Governance, Risk and Compliance Advisory practice in Nairobi. Over the years he has been involved in developing and implementing Enterprise Risk Management frameworks across different industries. He has also been involved in developing and reviewing business continuity plans, performing internal audits and assisting organizations develop and implement Corporate Governance Frameworks. Mr. Kisaka also has experience in IT audits and IT risk assessments. He has also worked as a Manager with the Enterprise Risk Management consulting department of Deloitte East Africa and has worked with Stanbic bank as a Senior Officer in the Operations Integrity function.
Mr. Kisaka holds a Master of Commerce in Finance from Strathmore University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. He is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor and holds a Higher Diploma in the Management of Information Systems (IMIS). He is currently a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification holder.
Amy Mokaya-Group Actuarial Manager
Amy Mokaya has joined UAP as the Group Actuarial Manager. She has over four years of experience in the insurance industry. Amy holds a Bachelor of of Science Degree in Actuarial Science from The University of Nairobi and is a training Fellow Actuary of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the United Kingdom. She also holds a Diploma in Finance and Investment and a Diploma in Actuarial Techniques from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the United Kingdom. Prior to joning UAP she worked at BRITAM where she rose through the ranks from an Actuarial Assistant to an Assistant Actuarial Manager, a position she held for two years.
Candy Wekesa Okoboi-Deputy Group Company Secretary
Mrs. Okoboi joined UAPHL as the Deputy Group Company Secretary in June 2012. Before joining the Group, she was the Senior Legal Advisor for the Business Licensing Reform Project under the Uganda Investment Climate Program supported by the World Bank Group. Prior to that, she headed the legal and compliance departments of the Uganda Securities Exchange and the Capital Markets Authority of Uganda, encompassing over 12 years’ experience in the area of financial markets regulation, legal reform and institutional building.
At a continental level, Mrs. Okoboi has been a member of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Country Review Missions for the Republic of Zambia and the United Republic of Tanzania and has accomplished several corporate governance assignments at this level and in Uganda as a member and trainer of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU).
